A begginers' nest

The biggest new begging of anyone's life is getting married, in my humble opinion. We learn and grow so much by sharing our lives with someone else. It is challenging yet the rewards of the growth we obtain is priceless.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demosntrator, pp, bridal card, subtles DSP, world of dreams, my friend stamp set, loving thoughts, big shot, hearts collection, elegant dots tief, banner triple punch, su

Since we are in the summer and people are getting married all over the place, I prepared a wedding/bridal shower for The Paper Players challenge 251 today. The stamp set My Friend has been retired for a bit now, but it has not grown old. The main image is from the World of Dreams stamp set. Those two little birds in the nest look so loving, how can I resist? The sentiment is also from yet another retired set, the Loving Thoughts. The Mint Macaron strip was embossed using the new Elegant Dots; on the foliage, I wanted a more subtle and soft effect, and i got that by "brushing" the ink pad over the image, rather than inking as we normally do. I just put it on top of the image and drag it using only one edge to ink the stamp.

Thank you for visiting today, have a fantastic week and come back soon. Be well

Awesome birthday.

PPA257

Oh my, oh my, the weather has been absolutely perfect and I am having a very hard time staying indoors. I think I must move my craft room outdoors.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, ppa, birthday card, birthday blossoms stamp set, awesomely artistic, su

We are all enjoying the beautiful sunny days, but I am saving aside a bit of time to play in my craft room. Today I am show-casing a card based on the sketch from the Pals Paper Players 257 and I decided on a birthday card. I used some retired products as I want very bright colors. The greeting is from Birthday Blossoms, while the flower image is form the also new Awesomely Artistic. Such pretty stamp sets and with so much personality.

A blessing.

In the summer months, it seems that there are a lot more baptisms going on around here. I work a Farmer's Market once a month and see an increased request for Baptism card.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, fms, baptism card, blessed by god, subtles DSP, texture boutique machine, elegant bouquet tief, su

Hence my card today.  As I am working on few commissioned Baptism card, I take the time to make extra ones so I can have them handy. This one I made using the Freshly Made Sketch challenge 192 as a source of inspiration. I kept the card as pastel as possible but did not want to use the same tone of blue for both the DSP and the stamped image and sentiment, which are both stamped in Lost Lagoon. Both the cross and sentiment is from Blessed by God stamp set, which is a must in any stamper collection. I did emboss the background for a bit of added interest. I love how the flowers cascade down from the cross as if the blossoms are just exploding in new life.

Thank you so much for your visit today. I truly appreciate it and hope you will be back soon. Be well.

Good things, good deeds, good doers...

... they are everywhere. Despite the depressing news of so much free violence, I see goodness in many ways, shapes, and forms all around us all. There is always someone out there doing a kind deed on a daily basis and so long we all strive to do some good every day, we have the power to make a better world.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, dsc, lullaby dsp, birthday blossoms stamp set, lots of thanks, thank you, itty bitty accents punch, su

For all of us that always find an opportunity to do good, Thank you. This card is for all of us. The colors for the Dostamper Stars challenge 138 are cheerful and make for a great thank you card. I used the Lullaby DSP for the background and a bit of Hello Honey card stock for the flowers. The Birthday Blossoms stamp set was stamped twice to create a fuller foreground. I love this stamp set and those small flowers all together like a carpet of flowers. The sentiment is from the retired Lots of Thanks stamp set. The ribbon is a bit left over from couple of Sale-A-Brations ago that I hoarded... so, why not use it, right?

Let's all keep up the good work and continue to spread goodness all around us. Be well

KIck back and relax.

CCMC360

There is a time for everything, and a time to relax must be saved aside and enjoyed to the fullest. I am hardly ever at rest, but the times when I do rest I refuse to do anything. It is a very re-energizing exercise for me that it does not need to be done more than every other year or so.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, ccmc 360, retirement, moon lake stamp set, wild about flowers, dots for days, big shot, oval collection framelits, word window, modern label punch, su

I do not believe that anyone retires so they can do nothing. Precisely the contrary. People retire so they can do the things they were not able to while they were part of the work force. Perhaps a leisure day at a beautiful lake? For today's card, yes that will be perfect. The Moon Lake stamp set met the requirement with this beautiful image. Create with Connie and Marie challenge 360 is a color challenge and I think it went well with the image and sentiment, which is from the new Wild About Flowers stamp set. That background? Well, that is the new Dots for Days background stamp set, which I stamped using the Smoky Slate.

That's all for now. Get some rest, get some craft on, and remember to always take a moment to smell the flowers. Be well

It is summer!

Did you do anything special for the summer solstice? As much as I would loved to have done something special, the weekend was too busy to do more. Besides Father's day, my husband and I celebrated out 18th anniversary and on Saturday I was at the Farmer's Market. The weather was extremely beautiful, so we all spent most of the day outdoors. I did not even go anywhere near my craft room.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, sssc, all occasions card, butterfly basics stamp set, gold soiree specialty esp, bitty butterfly punch, blender pens, su

But I could no longer resist the call coming from my craft room and went there, saw the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 274 and immediately made this card. Very simple but with such a special touch of summer and warmth. The DSP is from the now retired Gold Soiree and the Butterfly Basics stamp set was used for both the flower and the butterfly. I used the blender pen to color the flower and note that I placed a punched Garden Green butterfly behind each of the stamped ones to give a bit of depth. A touch of ribbon and a marvelous bow using My Bow Maker and this card was completed.

Thank you for your visit today. Be well.

Summer dreams.

My garden is mostly planted and I relish in opening its little gate every morning to be greeted by my plants that soon will bear fruits and food for my family. Summer is so vibrant with life everywhere that I have a hard time staying inside.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampingwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, dsc137, house warming, painted blooms dsp, wild about flowers, summer silhouettes, and many more stamp set, su

Summer is full of life and with that is a constant motion and change. In many aspects. People are more active, people are getting married, traveling, and moving. While the inspiration from Dostamper Stars challenge 137 depicts something else, I decided on the colors to prepare today's card. This card I made thinking of as a House Warming card. My daughter asked me what was about sending a house warming card. The only explanation I was able to concoct was that when we move to a new house, it is just a house, but the little gestures and the little things in the first few moments of living there is what will make the house a home. For that I kept this card simple. The Wild About Flowers stamp set in combination with the Summer Silhouette stamp set gave a good "bouquet" as a welcome to the new house. In Brazil we say that green is the color of hope, so, here is for hoping for a life filled with love, happiness, health, and prosperity in the new home.

I hope you are doing well and also hope that you will visit again. Be well

Happily getting well.

Lately has been a series of things that took place in my life that helped me to get an additional dose of perspective. The things cannot be changed, but they were a wonderful learning lesson. No matter how bad the event, there is always something to learn.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, pp, get well, definitely dahlia, perpetual birthday calendar, sassy salutations, texture boutique machine, elegant dots tief, su

After thinking about it all long and hard, I finally made peace with it and I am now feeling better. Finding peace was all I need to move on and get a bit more cheerful. Therefore, after seeing the color challenge from The Paper Players, I quickly put this Feel Better card together. I love the new Definitely Dahlia background stamp, which I stamped and fussy cut it. The background layer was stamped using the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set, the sentiment is from Sassy Salutations and the Elegant Dots TIEF gave a subtle texture to the background, setting it apart. I sure am feeling better and hope you are all doing fantastically well too.

Thanks for visiting. Be well.

Sail away.

The warmth of the summer days are priceless. Sunday was a raining day that turned out getting hot and humid in the afternoon. My husband complains about it, but for me, walking outside, is like being hugged head to toes.... and remaining hugged until I go back inside. Love it.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, fusion, masculine, all occasions card, maritime dsp, the open sea stamp set, su

Being close to a body of water helps. Sailing and jumping in the ocean in a hot, humid day is the icing on any cake. The smell of the sea on the skin and hair is so wonderful. Making a card with maritime theme always triggers memories of times by the ocean. This card is perfect for any one, but I think it has a make connotation to it. The Maritime DSP was used all around here and The Open Sea stamp set complemented the theme. A great inspiration from the Fusion Blue Skies and Smooth Sailing challenge.

All new and fresh.

That's how it is in the house right now. My friendly UPS delivery person stopped by yesterday and delivered a box of fresh and new Stampin' Up products that made hard for me to keep any of my daily commitments.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, dsc, thank you, awesomely artistic, good greetings stamp set, deco labels collections, big shot, su

I had to continue with the day before I was able to go and play. I had the Dostamper Stars challenge 136 to play and decided to get the Mint Macarron card stock and ink out. The new Awesomely Artistic stamp set is so beautiful and has so many options that it s really a well rounded set. I think my UPS person deserves this card, as he is always bringing the goodies that allow me to create and share.

Thank you for you visit today. Come back soon. Be well

Amore.

I told you I was on a roll with Love themed card. Today is yet again another one that I can see been given to a Bride on her shower or even wedding day.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, sssc, bridal card, wedding card, modern medley, heat embossing, hearts collection, big shot, su

Do you agree? I love the sketch from the SSSC 272 and I will make other cards using the same sketch. Few variations of course. Making cards is like cooking for me. Lots of variations each time, except when baking. This card takes the sentiment from Seasonally Scattered and it was heat embossed in Silver. The paper is from the Modern Medley DSP long retired, but much loved, no pun intended. The hearts replace the banner from the original sketch as I thought it more suitable. As for the ribbon, is a Pink Pirouette, that I still have a good amount of it. Got love those retired products that always deliver!

Soothing Sympathy

CCMC358

Indeed, for life will always have the same end to all of us, and my mother always says that this is the only certainty in life. Sympathy cards are not fun to make, but they can have a soothing, calming, and something even be a bit happy looking.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, ccmc358, sympathy card, lullaby dsp, moon lake stamp set, love & sympathy, su

I truly like the color combination from Create with Connie and Mary challenge 358 and honestly I will be using this combo more often. Today, however, I chose a Sympathy card, so I can have some at hand in case I need one. The sentiment is from the Love & Sympathy set and that beautiful image is from the Moon Lake stamp set. The Lullaby DSP gave the bit of "texture" that I was looking for and the Lost Lagoon Ribbon finished it all up elegantly. Hope you enjoyed today's card and perhaps will try using this combination in your next project.

Thanks for visiting today. Be well

Oh happy day.

PPA254

I am on the roll with cards for Weddings, Bridal Showers, and Anniversaries. The summer months are here, so it is time for much, much love.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, ppa254, bridal card, wedding card, heat embossing, flowering flourishes, happy day stamp set, su

I made this card thinking of a Bridal Shower being held outdoors with fun, happy people, having a fantastic time. I got married outdoors and always thought of that as being ideal, weather permitting. The color combo is from the Pals Paper Art challenge 254, and I used the Flowering Flourishes stamp set as the main image. This was heat embossed with the Iridescent Powder and it looks striking - although the picture is not doing it justice. I really like how it is discreet and sparkly with the "happy day" sentiment gives the pop of color. The sentiment is from the retired Happy Days stamp set. I still had some Strawberry Slush trim and gives a nice balance of the color. I am sure the bride will have a very happy day and I wish that the life of the new couple be filled with happy days.

Let's do that again!

Let me thank you once again for such wonderful support and for your friendship. You are a fantastic group of readers and the messages you send me truly warms my heart.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, sc, thank you, fresh prints dsp, summer silhouettes, painted petals stamp set, big shot, finishing touches edgelits, squares collection, su

Then, please accept this card from me. I love making thank you cards... well, actually I love making cards in general. But thank you cards have such a wonderful meaning and a feeling of gratitude that grows a bit more every and each time I send one out. With the weather getting better and new blossoms blooming, the Summer Silhouettes stamp set appeared to be the only choice I had. A bit of Fresh Prints DSP that was stashed away, sentiment from the Painted Petals stamp set, Finishing Touches Edgelits and was all I need to complete this sketch from the Splicoast Stampers Sketch Challenge 543.
Once again, thank you for visiting today and please do come again. Be well.

A Toast!

June is wedding month, or so it appears in the northern states. I can see why, and I, myself, am guilty as charged. I like to work on wedding cards, but often I run out of ideas. I want to prepare elaborate cards and all, but simplicity always wins over.

Look at this card as an example? It is very simple in itself, in its design, and final results. Yet I truly like the simplicity of it. The sketch if form the Freshly Made Sketches 189; both the image and sentiment are heat embossed in white powder for an extra touch of elegance. Both are from the Love & Laughter stamp set as well as the flowers on the corners of the card. The Brushed Silver cardstock is wonderful to work with; whether you are using a punch, a embossing folder, a heat embossing, it takes it all. Love the effect the White Embossing powder had on it. A bit of Silver Glimmer paper and the card is sure to be appreciated by the beautiful bride.
