Oh no, it is coming again.

The birds are chirping and singing, but perhaps it is wise of them to take cover as we are expecting a winter storm this week. I hope it dissipates and does not make it at all.

However, I think across the country people are enjoying a much milder winter and it certainly is a nice break from last winter. That was brutal. Anyway, I am glad to spend time in my craft room and play away. Today I prepared a card for the Pals Paper Players challenge 285 in which I used the Summer Silhouettes and a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set. I do not mean for a sympathy card, instead I think this card can easily go to anyone that we are thinking of. A Thinking of you card is more suitable and it certainly can be used at any time. The beautifully ornate Filigree Frame TIEF framed the image so well that I can hardly get my eyes off of it. The touch of ribbon and a perfect bow finish it off.

Sad, but memorable.


Our mild weather is now officially history and let's hope it does not take too long before it return to warm our bodies and souls. However, I must say, the bright sunny days sure makes the difference in keeping the moods up.

I am working on getting some cards hand and noticed that I need some sympathy cards. I do not look forward to making or using them, but they have a time to use and I hope that when I send one off, it will bring some beauty and comfort a suffering loved one. The sketch for today's card is from the Mojo Monday challenge 431. I used the Merry Moments DSP for the background. As much as I love the Chevron Ribbons, it makes a bow a bit too bulky for the look I was going for. Summer Silhouette stamp set was used for the image and the sentiment is from the Simply Sketched stamp set. While not a very cheerful card, it is not too sad either. I believe in the importance of remembering the loved one with happiness, so a card that transmits a bit of that is always a blessing.

Farewell

It is a sad thing when you make good friends and then they have to move away. A very good friend of mine just recently relocated and while we are sad to see them go, we are happy for the new chapter and opportunity in their lives.

I prepare this card for her farewell party. Since there was several families that were signing the card, I made it on a book style. I prepared small sheets for each family and then assemble them all in the card, which turned out like a lovely memories booklet. I am showcasing the new First Sight stamp set, along with the Summer Silhouettes for the small blossoms. I still had some retired dsp that went well with the looks of the stamped image, and the background dsp in Soft Sky. This card could not be complete without the bow and some pearls. I love the final result. Do you?

I am not ready.

For the holiday season that is. I can hardly believe that there are some holiday decorations out for sale, and we have not yet reached Halloween. That is just wrong.

I will take my time to get to the Holidays and in the meantime I will be working on all sorts of cards, but I need Birthday cards, so you may be seeing lots of ideas for your birthday cards. Today, despite the weather, I pulled the Summer Silhouettes from the shelf and that was enough for the images. I liked the colors from the Pals Paper Arts challenge 270, the Summer Silhouettes was the perfect choice for it. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, which is a must have on your craft room. I made the vase using Holiday Ornament framelit and add a bit touch to top and bottom of the vase, which were cut with the Adorning Accents Edgelit. I used retired Park Lane DSP for the background and for the vase. A touch of Candy Dots and this card is ready.

You did great.



Recently my mother -in-law received a diagnostic of breast cancer. She moved quickly and decide to have a mastectomy. My husband is spending this week at her house helping to care for her, but mostly helping with his father whom has had a declining health for many years now. He returns tomorrow and I am positive this have been a changing experience for him.

I am sure my mother-in-law appreciate the fact that he went to be there at this time, and I am very happy he did it. They do not have daughters, so they boys must step up and do what is needed to do. Today's card is a way to thank him for doing that. The Dostamper Stars challenge 147 gave the perfect color combination for the masculine card and I pulled out some retired DSP to complete the color combo. The image is from Summer Silhouettes and the sentiment from Happy Notes stamp set, which was cut with the matching Lots of Labels framelits.

Summer dreams.



My garden is mostly planted and I relish in opening its little gate every morning to be greeted by my plants that soon will bear fruits and food for my family. Summer is so vibrant with life everywhere that I have a hard time staying inside.

Summer is full of life and with that is a constant motion and change. In many aspects. People are more active, people are getting married, traveling, and moving. While the inspiration from Dostamper Stars challenge 137 depicts something else, I decided on the colors to prepare today's card. This card I made thinking of as a House Warming card. My daughter asked me what was about sending a house warming card. The only explanation I was able to concoct was that when we move to a new house, it is just a house, but the little gestures and the little things in the first few moments of living there is what will make the house a home. For that I kept this card simple. The Wild About Flowers stamp set in combination with the Summer Silhouette stamp set gave a good "bouquet" as a welcome to the new house. In Brazil we say that green is the color of hope, so, here is for hoping for a life filled with love, happiness, health, and prosperity in the new home.

But thank you cards have such a wonderful meaning and a feeling of gratitude that grows a bit more every and each time I send one out. Keeping up.

While my dear husband took a skiing, I decided to do some cleaning, organizing, and crafting too.

I want to use some negative images, but only had it in Pear Pizzazz, which was lighter than I had wished. Nonetheless I liked the turn out. I have been in a mode for using older supplies and also am trying to work on my large stash of retired DSP.  The Label Collection Framelit cut was embellished using the frame tief that is retired, but it gave such a nice touch.  The sentiment is from Crazy About You stamp set from the Occasions Catalog. The sketch from the Pals Paper Arts 241 did the trick in helping me putting this card together!

A bit of summer, please.

Well, after a wonderful vacation with my family, I am back and I feel invigorated. With most of the mundane chores done, I head down to my craft room to put those new inspirations into proper use.

I decided to pull out the Summer Silhouettes stamp set since I have not used it in a while and I like it a lot. For the paper, I chose the Subtles DSP stack and think it turned out a very good all occasion card. The sketch is from the Pals Paper Arts challenge 236, which was a delight to work with and a sure CAS sketch.

Closing the Summer? Wait.......

It is so soon for that, but it appears that there is nothing that can be done about it. Summer never really arrive this year in Wisconsin, and we are about to close it already. To say good bye to summer, what better than the Summer Silhouette stamp set to do so?

It did not need much to make this card a showcase. The sketch is from the Pals Paper Arts challenge 217. I used the new Filigree Frame TIEF on the Wisteria Wonder layer and I love it.

Tips & Tricks:
  • The Summer Silhouette stamp were placed randomly to fill most of the Very Vanilla layer. 
  • The little sentiment was stamped in Wisteria wonder, punch out using the 3/4" Circle punch and than a Basic Black piece was punched out using the 7/8" scalloped circle punch.
  • I usually cut the top layer a bit smaller, but I wanted a very thin edge and therefore cut teh top layer only 1/8" smaller than the base.

DSC 087 - Summer Silhouettes

Another week just went by and Thursdays are for Dostamper Stars challenge! Are you ready?  Summer Silhouettes was my stamp of choice today as I waited on summer for so long. Dostampers Star 87 challenge is a color combo and a cheery one. I went for a thinking of you card that is perfect for a get well card as I believe that  bit of cheery can be all a recovering person needs.

Tips and Tricks:
  • For the sentiment I used one of the parts from the Circle Thinlits to cut it after I stamped the sentiment. I then cut another piece in blue to give a frame to the whisper white.
  • Giving texture to a layer adds a lot of interest to the card without much work. Give it a try!

It's here! It's here! We are finally feeling that the Spring and a hint of summer is upon us, and despite the pollen count, I am happy to enjoy the warmth of the sun, to see the beautiful tones of green, to see colors all around and in many unique shapes of flowers. How can I make any paper project without getting inspired by the weather? Summer Silhouettes stamp set it is! Unscripted Sketches gave me the layout and the results are here for you to see. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks:
    •  Before I cut any angled pieces, I make sure to measure a whole piece and create a small pattern of the angled cut I wish for. If layering, I apply the bottom layer to the already cut top layer, then I cut the bottom layer.
