Well wishes

Hello my dear readers.  I am glad to be in a health state again, but I hear a lot of people still dealing with some nasty cold/flu that can last for 3 weeks. I wish any and all of you that your health be restored soon.

My mother-in-law underwent a major surgery on the 25th and my husband stayed with her for this past week. She is slowly recovering and we are also keeping her in our prayers. A Get Well card is in order with so many people ill. I used the color combinations from CCMC400, which I think it is simply lovely and got busy creating this card. The Timeless Elegance dsp is the background. I like that it make for a mute tone and let the Lost Lagoon and Delightful Dijon shine. The image is from the Awesomely Artistic and the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics Stamp set.  I like layering with punched shaped and this one is a classic. Love how the sentiment fit and filled up the oval. I was tempted to add a bow, but the sentiment was enough. A bit of lowers in the corner did the trick to finish balancing out the card.

Kindred & colors.

Hello my dear readers. I am entering a  very busy week and my posts may be far in between. But, it does not mean I have forgotten you, it just means that my free time is not going to suffice so I can have time to play.

However, I did find just a bit of time to prepare a card for the CCMC 396. The color selection is beautiful but not exactly easy for me to combine. The background is from the Regals DSP stack. To go with that I used the Fancy Fans TIEF on the Hello Honey layer. The oval is stamped with the First Sight stamp set and so is the sentiment. It was a while since I last layered the sentiment using the Decorative Label Punch, and this was a perfect chance. I love the looks of it. I added a bit of ribbon just for a final and delicate touch.

Peaceful passage.

I do not want to start the year on a sad note, however, things happen and a friend of mine lost her grand-father on Christmas day. She held up well, but I know she was very sad and I know a card would give her some solace.

Of course, I made this card with her in mind. I used the CCMC 387 as my inspiration. I looked through my dsp collection and found that the English Garden was perfect and I used it for all the panels. I will miss this dsp and its beautiful and soothing colors. The sentiment is from the retired Simply Sketched, which is a favorite of mine. Now, the one tool that I have reached up for a lot is the Triple Banner punch. Have you seen it? Did you buy it? well, if you did not, you must. It is the best and quickly turn any piece of paper in a lovely banner. A touch of ribbon in a perfect bow form and this card was complete to present to my friend.

Hi mom!


We knew these beautiful colors were going to wave good bye, but it is hard to see them go as they are such a pretty bunch. I have stocked up and plan on continue to use them for some time.

Every year when the Retiring list comes out, I revisit some old favorites. This time I picked up the Delightful Dozen for the sentiment and the Scalloped Dotted Border punch. Those are favorites of mine and I am having a hard time parting with them. Another one taking leave is the I Like You hostess set, but look at that potential! For a bit of texture, how about the lovely Spring Flowers TIEF? A mother deserves all that and much more. Sweet Celebration

I started preparing this post, however I got watching a program about Audrey Hepburn and it was such a story that I put my computer aside and went on learning about this extraordinary woman. Her life was certainly well lived, but not free from lots of pain and suffering.

This card was ready, so I stuck with it. I think Audrey would find it a fun card, and I think a young girl would find the card cheerful too. The DSP of choice here is the Confetti Celebration and all the pieces came from that. I have not used the Cycle Celebration stamp set for a while, and the greeting was perfect for a fun, relaxed card, don't you think? A bit of ribbon to complete the looks from the sketch challenge 532 from Splitcoast Stamper, and the card was done. Too bad I was not as quick with the post!

The celebration continues

My little guy turns 5 years old today and the joy that he exudes from this date is so contagious that we have all being on a big birthday mode. He has his own calendar, which he changes daily, and this past week he was rather pleased with such a task. Today, it is finally here and he is now a big boy!

I continue to make more birthday cards this week, and this is not the card I made for him. I will post his card and banner tomorrow. This card is a combination of challenges: Freshly Made Sketch challenge 176 and also Color Challenge 520 from Splitcoast Stampers. The colors are great together, but I decided to keep this card simple as it is intended to a teenager girl. The Cup Cake Builder punch is a favorite and sure adds a nice touch. The sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set, which is a favorite too.

Lovely you!

Happy New Year! I love saying that. With the holidays behind us, there are sometimes news that reach us that are not so expected. Along with a Christmas card, came a letter from a friend, and she shared some sad and painful news. Both me and my husband were surprised by the news and felt her pain.

I knew I want to send her a card, if nothing else to bring a bit of cheer and the certainty that she has a friend in us and she can reach out for us whenever she needs. I want some subtle colors and the Splitcoaststampers had the Color Challenge 511 up and I decided that I like the calmness of the combination. I pulled out an old Sale-A-Bration stamp set for the sentiment, but added a bit of new with the Butterfly Basics stamp set. I made the perfect little bow using My Bow Maker and I never get tired of admiring a well tied bow. The sketch I got also from Splicoaststampers, challenge SC521. The resulting card is both cheerful and also calm and solid. I am mailing it tomorrow and hope will find her in peace, calm, and good health.

2015 Catalog Transition

Do you smell it?


 

I do and it is sweet! It is called Holidays followed by Sale-A-Bration! Indeed, I am thinking of that yet again. Then, what happen is that I need to purge and use some papers that I have been hoarding.

Considering that the ColourQ Challenge 267 used most retired colors, I figure that I would use retired materials too. I love the turned out and this card was really simple to put together. It has a calming simplicity to it.
