Serene Good bye

It is time to say good bye to Sale-A-Bration 2015. The good thing is that it will come back again next year. Unfortunately not all good things come back.

The loss of loved ones is hard and the only comfort left are the memories of a life well lived. I started this card with an idea and then finished it with another and then decided that card is a Sympathy card. The sketch from the Retrosketches challenge 158 is a fun one and I will certainly use it again. I kept the materials to a minimum, and went for a plain simple look. I like the simplicity of the Serene Silhouettes stamp set and I am always pleased with the results. This time was no different.

It is almost over.

Birds and Flowers... Please Spring.

We got hit, yet again, by another cold front. Man, this is the time for those front turn their back on us.

Spring had an early showing around here, but then, all of the sudden took leave on us again and the cold front took over. Honestly, we all have had enough of this cold weather. So, I continue to craft and put my spring thoughts in my cards. Birds and flowers are just couple things that I am craving to see. I borrowed the birds from the retired Modern Medley DSP and the flowers are both from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and from Flourishes Flowering stamp set. The sketch is from the Pals Paper Players challenge 245 and is simple in itself allowing for a clean card. The simplicity of this card is such that I did look at it for a long time and I can almost feel the ocean breeze, smell the scent of the sea, and have the warmth embrace me whole. A woman can dream!

I am done!

Yes, I am done... with my taxes and I am glad it is over with. It is not a fun time and there are always few items on them that really irritates me to no end. Oh well, then I go to my studio and stamp my heart out.

And stamp I did. I went to work on the Splitcoast Stamper Sketch Challenge 533, narrow the base down to Sahara Sand, decided to take a look at color combinations and somehow got to the Create with Connie and Mary blog, they have the CCMC challenge 348 as a color challenge,  and the rest of the colors was decided for me. Easy huh? The stamp set of choice here is the Butterflies Basics set and it had all the elements I wanted for this card. A bit texture on the Soft Sky card stock and my card is completed and pleasing to the eyes if I may say so.

You are awesome.

I have several people around me that are truly awesome. Just for whom they are. How honest, transparent, and authentic they are. I certainly appreciate these qualities in people.

Today's card is inspired by those people. The colors are inspired by the Dostamper Stars Challenge 125.  I went for a thank you card rather than Easter card. I love the colors and it was not a difficult one for me. I do struggle with color combination a lot, so I am pleased when I get one and find it easy. The flower and sentiment all come from the Flower Patch stamp set. I did not even reach for my stash of DSP on this one!

Sweet Celebration

I started preparing this post, however I got watching a program about Audrey Hepburn and it was such a story that I put my computer aside and went on learning about this extraordinary woman. Her life was certainly well lived, but not free from lots of pain and suffering.

This card was ready, so I stuck with it. I think Audrey would find it a fun card, and I think a young girl would find the card cheerful too. The DSP of choice here is the Confetti Celebration and all the pieces came from that. I have not used the Cycle Celebration stamp set for a while, and the greeting was perfect for a fun, relaxed card, don't you think? A bit of ribbon to complete the looks from the sketch challenge 532 from Splitcoast Stamper, and the card was done. Too bad I was not as quick with the post!

Spring Equinox!

Temperature wise, I would not say that Spring has arrived, but since all the snow around us is melted and it is a bit warmer than it was, I am happy that we are on a good trend. I started  tomato seeds and collard greens, for now. I have done some work on my garden and hope to soon be spending more time outdoors.

For now, I am doing what I can, but also taking care of my sinus which is almost all better. This was a good week overall, and despite me being busy I had time to get several projects done. I had a party this week as well, and the ladies truly had a great time and enjoyed themselves. So, for today's card I will be entering it in the Pals Paper Arts Challenge 244. Spring bring birds back, and I like having them all around, including in projects. This one is from Moon Lake stamp set. Mixing a bit of DSP works well too, and in this one I went for the Back to Black and Confetti Celebration.

I think of you, butterfly.

Another week is coming to a close and it was a busy one. I found time, throughout the week to make some craft, I had time to do come cleaning and organizing, despite feeling not s great, so all in all it was a productive week. Very much so.

The Mojo Monday challenge 389 gave me immediate inspiration and this was a card that I put together as if it has been in my mind waiting to come alive. The Butterfly Basic stamp set was used for both the background and the very pretty butterfly. I am loving that stamp set and its matching framelits. I added a bit of ribbon and a perfect made bow, which you can also make this easily!

Happy Big Day.

Well, considering that my head is still stuck on a vice, I decided that it is time for this congestion to take a leave once and for all. A retirement card seems like the perfect order of the day.

The sketch from the Dostamper Stars Challenge 124 is my background for this card. I think it is a happy day when one finally retires, and still be able to enjoy lots of what life has to offer. The DSP selected is the Flashback, which seems appropriate to me. The image is from the Chalk Talk and the sentiment from And Many More. The bow adds the special touch and is easily knotted using My Bow Maker. I love making bows, single, double, you name it, my little device will make it. The end is near.

The end of this crazy stuffiness that befell upon me. The weekend was not a fun one at all for me, but on Monday I felt better, Tuesday the head was still stuffed, but thanks to some hot drink - spiked hot drink - I am starting to feel better.

Well, I got better but the weather took a dive yet again. That's fine, as I want to spend some time crafting. I want to try white embossing on watercolor paper. I did that and used the image on the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 260. I like the turn out and will be doing the technique again. I t is easier that it appears and the results are truly pleasant. I want the colors a bit more vibrant and darker, so I added more color after the first layer was dry. The possibilities are truly endless and I am sure everyone can have lots of fun with this watercolor technique. Please do try some. You will love it.

Congrats.

Yes, the cold got hold of me and I have been feeling wasted over the weekend. I did some house chores, but otherwise I just cannot manage to do much. I tried some crafting in hopes that it would raise my spirits, but I was not able to get much done. Oh well, I sure hope that the good weather stays, so we can all get plenty of fresh air.

One of the cards I prepared is for the Create with Connie and Mary challenge 346. It is a color challenge and the combination is great. I kept the card very simple but I really like the turn out. The Something Borrowed DSP from the Occasions Catalog has beautiful patterns and since the base is Sahara Sand I went for that. The greeting is from the Simply Wonderful stamp set that you can get for free during Sale-A-Bration with your qualifying order!

Please, not again.

Well, the weather took a rather nice turn and brought us sunshine and above freezing temperatures all week long. All snow has melted and I even took the time to do some basic maintenance to my garden. I sure hope the temperatures remain so, and the sun continues to shine bright.

However, I started feeling a bit ill again. Last time I felt this way I ended up with a nasty sinus infection along with a cough that lasted two months. I am taking this serious now and using some essentials oils and vitamins and resting. So, I did prepare this card two days ago, but honestly was busy with club night and did have much energy for anything else. Since when I made I was already feeling like something was coming up, I decided on a Get Well card. The sketch is from the Freshly Made Sketch challenge 177, and the color combination is from the Pals Paper Arts challenge 243. I went for a simple look with a small Petite Petals stamp set and punch. The Finishing Touches Edgelits is ever so delicate that deserved a place on this card. I feel better just by looking at it.
