Please don't go.


Last week was busy and I was hoping for a more calm week. I did not get much chance to spend time in my craft room, but in all, I got a lot accomplished, and so did my children. Life is beautiful

And life is beautiful even when favorite products get the retirement label on them. I did today's card for the Dostamper Stars 177 and what better idea than to use retiring and retired products? Flowering Flourishes is definitely a set that will not leave my house. I love this set and will keep with me and use many times over. The sentiment on this card is from the For The New Two stamp set that is also on the retiring list. The Darling Doily framelit was retired last year but I also love using it. The accent it adds is too precious. The background is from the Subtles dsp that was also retired couple of years ago. I could not do without a touch of ribbon and a perfect bow. That beautiful ribbon is also on the retiring list, so grab yours before it is gone.  In all, a lot is going to retire, but a lot more fun product will come. You will love it all!

A Jubilee celebration.

Celebrations vary so widely, that I doubt that I will every grow tired of hearing about them. Last week, I was approached to prepare a card for a Jubilee of a nun. She has been a nun for 75 years and I was told the story of her life. A celebration it will be indeed.

Since I was just introduced to Jubilee, I went on searching and found that it is platinum. I do not have a platinum paper or materials readily, but I saw that the Brushed Silver card stock was a good match. The sketch from Mojo Monday 421 worked well for what I had in mind, although I did change the sketch a bit. A bit of heat embossing was applied to the bottom portion of the card. I used the Flowering Flourishes stamp set. I aimed at keeping the card simple, but I also want some details. A bit of Glimmer paper in silver for the numbers and also for the layer behind the black circle added a bit of pizzazz without being too much. The corners were adorned with the Curvy Corner Punch and I honestly cannot see anyone not adding this punch to their collection. The ribbon and perfect bow completed the looks of this card. I can hardly wait to hear if the nun liked her card.

It is getting closer now.



And in one more day my little girl will have reached the 2-digits age. She is excited and have been counting down the days for over a month. It is fun to watch her excitement with this milestone.

As I have said earlier this week, I am working on birthday cards this week. Here is another one and this one was inspired by the Dostamper Stars challenge 146. I did not want the color pallet or the back to school theme, just the butterflies and with the Pretty Petals dsp that was easily accomplished. The layers of Deco Labels was textured with Decorative Dots TIEF and stamped with Flowering Flourishes stamp set. I did use the new Curvy Corner punch to add that little opening for the ribbon and this is one very nice punch to add to your collection. The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, which was then cut with the Chalk Talk framelits.

Bridal? Sure, of course.



Tuesday night we were hit with some unexpected storm that came with some potential tornadoes, wind, and some much needed rain. We had the tornado siren go off, but thankfully enough it all passed in due time and no damage occurred in any areas. It was, nonetheless scary.

We are also continuing the work on getting set up for the new school year and it is a major undertake for me as much as for the children. This all has not stopped me from going to my craft corner and get my juices flowing. It helps me with the daily routine and keep a fresh perspective on things. Anyway, I made today's card for the Dostamper Stars challenge 145.  Oh how I like the colors and patterns of the new Pretty Petals DSP stack and the one used today went really well with the Flowering Flourishes stamp set. I debated about using ribbon, but voted on the Flower Shop stamp set for the detail of the sketch. It gave life to the card along with the little flowers to enhance the colors. A perfect bridal shower card, don't you think?

Sunny get well.

Why sunny? Well, the weather has been sunny and beautiful, and I do feel much better on days that the sun is shining bright.

This week I did not spend much time on my craft area. Lots of things going on and my husband is on a business trip, so my days are sort of running together and with the beautiful days we are spending plenty time outdoors. But I could not longer resist and made few cards, including this one for Pals Paper Arts challenge 261.  The background is the retired Modern Medley DSP and I stamped the Flowering Flourishes directly on it. The flowers are from the Flower Shop and Crazy About you, while the sentiment is from the lovely Sassy Salutation, which was cut with the Label Bracket punch. I even cut an extra one in Crushed Curry to make a layer and continue with the color selection.
Now, the Flower Shop flower - top one - was stamped, punched, and then sponged for a bit more color. The Crazy About You flower  was punched with the 1-3/4" Scallop punch and I traced the lines using the Basic Black Marker. I love the touch it adds.

Oh happy day.

I am on the roll with cards for Weddings, Bridal Showers, and Anniversaries. The summer months are here, so it is time for much, much love.

I made this card thinking of a Bridal Shower being held outdoors with fun, happy people, having a fantastic time. I got married outdoors and always thought of that as being ideal, weather permitting. The color combo is from the Pals Paper Art challenge 254, and I used the Flowering Flourishes stamp set as the main image. This was heat embossed with the Iridescent Powder and it looks striking - although the picture is not doing it justice. I really like how it is discreet and sparkly with the "happy day" sentiment gives the pop of color. The sentiment is from the retired Happy Days stamp set. I still had some Strawberry Slush trim and gives a nice balance of the color. I am sure the bride will have a very happy day and I wish that the life of the new couple be filled with happy days.

A Musical Medley

I am not sure if the week is going by too fast, or if I am completely unable to keep track of it all. Sometimes it is nice to look at my calendar and see blank spaces. This week, that is not the case.

Because of that I was not able to play as much as I like. However, some events this week were truly worth it. On Tuesday night, me and my daughter went to see Mr. Ithzak Perlman play with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. What an evening that was. To say he is a virtuoso is the understatement of the year. He is genius, marvelous, fantastic, inspiring, and the greatest of our time. Of course I got y own share of inspiration. as I prepared a card for the Dostamper Stars challenge 130, I went back to my retired stash of Modern Medley and found just the right piece of paper I need for this project. The look is simple yet elegant. Flowering Flourishes as a partial background allows for the colors to be kept to a minimal. The Banners framelits set the tempo for this piece, and in all this is my masterpiece for today.

Birds and Flowers... Please Spring.

We got hit, yet again, by another cold front. Man, this is the time for those front turn their back on us.

Spring had an early showing around here, but then, all of the sudden took leave on us again and the cold front took over. Honestly, we all have had enough of this cold weather. So, I continue to craft and put my spring thoughts in my cards. Birds and flowers are just couple things that I am craving to see. I borrowed the birds from the retired Modern Medley DSP and the flowers are both from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack and from Flourishes Flowering stamp set. The sketch is from the Pals Paper Players challenge 245 and is simple in itself allowing for a clean card. The simplicity of this card is such that I did look at it for a long time and I can almost feel the ocean breeze, smell the scent of the sea, and have the warmth embrace me whole. A woman can dream!

Birthday week... month


There are so many people I know that have birthday this month that perhaps I need to dedicate this month to birthday cards only.

This Friday my youngest child turns 5 and I am not sure how all this happened. He was born just the other day and here we are five years later. It is just wrong! Then we have the older crowd that also deserves to celebrate. My mother-in-law is the first, and today is her birthday. So today's card is dedicated to her. I use the Mojo Monday Challenge 387 for the sketch idea combined with Flowering Flourishes stamp set as a background, Flower Patch stamp set for the little flowers and decided against a sentiment using instead the beautiful Chevron Ribbon. I like the Pumpkin Pie color with Basic Gray. Perhaps I will look for some outfit with those colors!

Well wishes

Receiving a Well Wishes card can be the refreshing note of a long day. Although, receiving a handmade card will make anyone's day in mu humble opinion.

I like to work with monochromatic as the results always surprise me. The Clean & Simple challenge 306 from Splitcoast Stampers asked for just one color and I was happy to oblige. I chose Wisteria Wonder as my color and the Flowering Flourishes as the background stamp for the sentiment, which is from the new Butterfly Basics Stamp set. My daughter was around when I was making this card and she suggested the placement of the ribbon, which I think turned out beautifully. The enchanting bow was easily made using My Bow Maker. I love it. Well wishes to all of you!

Flowering Birthday

All the glory of colors! Playing with colors used to be a daunting experience for me, but as time went by, I became more confident about it and am even trying more colors in my wardrobe.

The color combination fro today's Dostamper Stars Challenge 114 scared me at first, but at a second glance I felt much better and saw the potential. I chose the darkest color for the background and loved it the effect it gave when I stamped the Flowering Flourishes and also in the lighter Lost Lagoon for the focal point. I decided against a sentiment since the flower was beautiful all by itself. The DSP used here is the Lullaby and added the elegant finish touch to this Birthday Card.

Polka dot madness!

I am going on a strike! Yes, against the weather. It is not even December and our thermometer is not looking good at all. This morning it read -14C, which is about 10F. We have some snow on the ground, and the wind is too fierce. I have not left my house since Wednesday last week!

But, that does not stop me from crafting and meeting up with friends. I have a busy week with club and my last Holiday stamp-a-stack class. I held three this year and had a blast each time. Hence me not posting anything over the weekend. Today I went back to my craft room and saw the Mojo Monday challenge 372 and also the Pals Paper Arts challenge 227. That was all the ingredients I need to kill my craving for a fun card. I chose to have mostly DSP used for this one and the Flower Pot and Sweet Taffy DSP had the colors I need and they all had polka dots. The sentiment is from I Like You hostess stamp set and the flower is from the medium size stamp from the Flowering Flourishes set. I like the turn out and so did my daughter! I hope you will too.

I am the least entertained with such forecast. So, to express my sadness I prepare today's card using the color combo form the Pals Paper Arts challenge 222 and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketch challenge 156. As I look at this card, I can only think of it as a Sympathy card. The Serene Silhouettes stamp set paired up beautifully with the small detail from the Flowering Flourishes stamp set. I hope you have enjoyed today's card and I hope you will come back again soon.
