Sooth your soul.

How do we arrive at the wish to make a Sympathy card? Well, for me it is impossible not to feel some sympathy and sadness when any life is lost and particularly now with the earth quake in Nepal when so many lives were taken. I hope the survivors find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, sssc, cc, sympathy card, love & sympathy, painted petals stamp set, big shot, beautiful wings, window frames collection, su

Inspirations for today's card - layout and color that is - are from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 266 and the colors are from the Splitcoast Stampers Color challenge 528. Some of the materials used are soon going to retire and others are already retired. The Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Window Framelits Collection, Painted Petals, and Love & Sympathy stamp set are all going to retire as of June 2nd. If you like them, this may be your final chance to get them. The background paper is a retired DSP.
I hope you will find inspiration here today. Go ahead, get some of those retiring products and let the creative juices flow freely. Thanks for visiting today. Be well.

Still calling!

Spring that is. I was hoping that when we got the last heat wave, we would just enjoy a balm farewell from winter... But not, it was not yet done with us. I feel for the East Coast and all its winter storm this year. I hope all of you in the East Coast are doing well.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, pp233, birthday card, best year ever dsp, best year ever accessory pack, I like you stamp set, and many more stamp set, beautiful wings, big shot, labels collection, spring flowers TIEF, word window, su

Yeah, I am truly thinking and calling Spring, but I know it will be a while before it arrives. I can dream, nonetheless. The Best Year Ever DSP from Sale-A-Bration is simply beautiful and the colors truly speak to me. Since I want it to be spring theme, I used the great I Like You stamp set, the Beautiful Wings Embossilits, And Many More stamp set for the sentiment, a bit of Ribbon and the lovely Labels Collection Framelits. The Paper Players challenge 233 gave the great sketch as my canvas and I love it how this card turned out.

Free Wings!

DSC#119-Home

With the shy return of the birds, which I am very thankful for, I am now really looking forward to start seeing butterflies. I know this will be a while before it happens, but a woman can dream!

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, dsc119, something borrowed DSP, big shot, beautiful wings, thank you, su

While I wait patiently,  I work in my craft-room and you already know that butterflies and all things Spring are in my mind. The Dostamper Stars challenge 119 is a reflection of my mist private and helpful thoughts, so it was an easy challenge to jump into. I pulled out my Beautiful Wings Embossilits and went all hog. The paper I used is the new Occasions Catalog Something Borrowed DSP. I was not sure about this paper at first, but now that I have used it, I love it. I used sponge daubers to put some color into the paper and was surprise how well it takes. Once I got the colors that I want, I cut the pieces and run through the Big Shot and voilá, my butterflies came into life.

I did it!

Indeed, I reached 300 posts and I am really happy that I started this journey into blog posting. You all have been wonderfully supportive and your comments and messages truly enhance my day.

Miriam Castanho Bollinger, mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, rs140, I like you stamp set, something to say stamp set, lullaby dsp, big shot, beautiful wings, scalloped edge border punch, su

To celebrate, I want to Thank you everyone for being a reader, a follower, a fellow stamper, and above all a friend. I made this card for you and I am happy to share it here with you. The sketch is from Retro Sketch Challenge 140. The beautiful I Like You hostess stamp set was the image of choice as I want to do some coloring. The sentiment is from Something to Say stamp set, another favorite.
Thank you so much. I hope you will continue to read and follow me; but I truly hope that you will learn a thing or two while spending time with me. And always, please do share your thoughts with me.

There is a time for everything - Gold Soiree

PPA214 Island Indigo Crisp Cantaloupe Wild Wasabi

Yes, there is a time for everything. Because of that, today's card touches up the time when we depart from the earth. Recently a dear friend of mine lost her husband and it was a deeply saddened moment in the lives of the family and friends. However, he lived well and there was plenty to celebrate and memories to keep. I used the color combo from Pals Paper Arts challenge 214 and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketch challenge 148 to produce this card. While for a sad moment, I hope such a card can bring a sense of warmth to a grieving person.

PPA 214, FMS 148, Miriam Castanho Bollinger, #mstampinwithyou, stampin up, demonstrator, ppa, fms, gold soiree specialty dsp, love & sympathy, beautiful wings, su
The Gold Soiree Specialty DSP is simply gorgeous! The patterns are subtle and the colors marvelous. It set a good and peaceful ground for the card and anchored everything together. Love it.

The tiny butterfly gave the final touch.   It's simple to do with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  Did you see the Big Shot Special Offer?

MM 348, CQC 244 - Beautiful Wings

It has been a few weeks since I entered a card into the Mojo Monday and ColourQ challenges. I enjoy both of them, it just seems that life got busier and I was not able to get a card on time. This week I am changing that I have a card ready for both of these challenges. The stamp set Thoughts & Prayers is beautiful and it went well with the little butterflies from Beautiful Wings. I hope you will enjoy this card today.

Thank you for visiting and please stop by again soon.

Happy Stamping,

Miriam Castanho Bollinger

Tips and Tricks:
  • For the Night of Navy back layers, I cut it a hair larger than the top layer. I just want a little bit of darker color on the back
  • When I have an image that I will cut using a punch or die, I stamp first and cut last.
