Clean and Spring!

The days are getting a bit longer, the birds are singing - well, some of the days (when they are not frozen), but Spring is yet to make its formal entrance.

So, I keep on waiting for it. In the meantime I craft and with the Clean & Simple challenge 313 from Splitcoaster Stamper it was an easy task. The challenge calls for Spring and that sure is in my mind lately. Have Spring arrived where you are located? A small gift.

Sometimes there are little gifts that we receive unexpectedly that makes our day.

Couple of Brazilians arrived in a Business trip to visit with my husband and kindly brought me some delicacy candies that I have not eaten is several years. It was truly a delicious surprise. Spring that is. I was hoping that when we got the last heat wave, we would just enjoy a balm farewell from winter... But not, it was not yet done with us. I feel for the East Coast and all its winter storm this year. I hope all of you in the East Coast are doing well.

Dig that stash, yet again.

Wow, after a hard, busy, and long week, it ended in a big and high note. Literally. My daughter was in a violin workshop Friday and Saturday. We both were elated by the whole experience, despite her being with such a nasty cough.

Memories we created and will cherish them for a long time. The workshop and summer institutes are exhausting, but so enriching in many ways.  Today's card gives me the opportunity to solidify new memories and also revisit old ones. The beautiful sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 257 and its simplicity makes for an easy ride. What has inspired you?

Well, inspirations come from all sorts of place. I am always find things that can be made into a card. This past week my son was having a bit of a runny nose, so a new box of tissue was opened and upon looking at the box, I found the inspirations for today's card.

I know, weird, right? But not really. The colors went well together and it was so nice and subtle that I was not able to resist. I found an inspiration also at the Splitcoast Stampers challenge TLC521 which call for the use of Positive and Negative image. Then, using my Flower Shop, And Many More, Beautiful Bunch, and Creative Elements stamp sets I got busy stamping the images in either Smoky Slate of Tempting Turquoise. I punch out one flower from the corner and placed it in the opposite corner. The sentiment was placed on the negative of the Word Punch. Simple, yet an elegant and clean card. How about you? Look who has arrived!

I have several friends that just recently became pregnant and it seems like a surge around here. I guess one can blame in the cold weather!

Of course there will be need for baby cards, and using the Color Challenge 518 from Splitcoast Stampers, I made a baby card to keep on my stash for s near future use. I did not add any Crisp Cantaloupe to this card, but it can easily be made in a baby girl card by switching the baker's twine and the sheet of the Lullaby DSP. The stamp is the now retired Sweetest Gift, which I am happy to put into use and by using the Labels Collection Framelits it sure made the image pop. I like it!

Color my world, butterfly!

I did not hear the birds this week yet due to the brutally cold weather that made our way again. Oh well.

Since the birds are nowhere to be heard and the butterflies nowhere to be seen, I decided to have my own butterflies color my world. Nothing like the wonderful combination of the Dostamper Stars Challenge 120 and the new Butterflies Thinlits Dies to get that accomplished. I wanted a muted background, so I reached for the Something Borrowed Specialty DSP. Those butterflies are simply gorgeous and I want to fly away in their wings.

Subtly Feminine.

Just when I thought our weather was about to take us into Spring, fierce winter decided to push in yet again. Oh, these temperatures are just not my thing!

Well, then let's play in the craft room! This past weekend it was carnaval in Brazil and it is a time when I miss my homeland. I saw a bit of the parades, but not much. Just enough to warm my heart. The floats and everything was beautiful and very creatively crafted. I picked at some subtle costume and liked the calmness of it in the midst of the excitement and decide that a card could come out of that. The sketch for this card was inspired by the Retro Sketch Challenge 153 and I was happy to create a card that is soft and gentle in a way. I am truly enjoying the new Perpetual Birthday calendar stamp set with its small images and used it in the background here. A bit of washi tape and some retired DSP and this card is ready to find it way to a lovely lady.

Celebrate good times!

This was a fun and busy weekend, with some things to think about life and plenty to celebrate. The beauty of life and the love for those around us is just what we all need to celebrate.

I prepared this card for my club ladies to work on. My hostess of this month truly loves coloring, so she asked me if we could have a coloring feminine project. I think this one fits the bill. I used the new Butterfly Basics stamp set and also the Blendabilities pens can you too can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration! The sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set. Let's not be too sad.

Despite of the St. Valentine's day, I used this color challenge for a Sympathy card. Why? Well, recently a friend of ours lost her father and it is so painful to see people go through such a difficult time as it is, and around a holiday or a celebration it makes matter that much harder.

Sympathy cards can be hard to make as they carry a lot of feelings. I tried to keep the card away from being so heavy with the colors from the Pals Paper Arts challenge 239 and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketch challenge 173. Perhaps creating a card that has a touch of lightness to it, will help a suffering family during the loss of a loved one.

Free Wings!

With the shy return of the birds, which I am very thankful for, I am now really looking forward to start seeing butterflies. I know this will be a while before it happens, but a woman can dream!

While I wait patiently,  I work in my craft-room and you already know that butterflies and all things Spring are in my mind. The Dostamper Stars challenge 119 is a reflection of my mist private and helpful thoughts, so it was an easy challenge to jump into. I pulled out my Beautiful Wings Embossilits and went all hog. The paper I used is the new Occasions Catalog Something Borrowed DSP. I was not sure about this paper at first, but now that I have used it, I love it. I used sponge daubers to put some color into the paper and was surprise how well it takes. Once I got the colors that I want, I cut the pieces and run through the Big Shot and voilá, my butterflies came into life.

Celebrate!

 

The birthdays keep on coming and I cannot get enough cards and the feeling of happiness. I love birthdays as this is the special day for each one of us. I do not believe that there is a day more important than the day of our birth. So, celebrate!

To keep, I have to work on few more birthday cards to keep my stash ready. Today's card has prepared based on two great challenges: The Paper Players challenge 231 and Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 255.  I did pull out some retired products that I just cannot part with. Modern Medley DSP was one of my favorite and I am so happy to use it. The Serene Silhouettes was perfect for the image and the sentiment from Label Something completed the looks. Now, let's cut that cake!
