An elegant celebration.

I know that Thanksgiving is just tomorrow and with that, plenty to think about it and to be thankful for. It is ideal to have this time to reflect about life in general, and remember all the pieces that make us whole. Celebrate life. Always.



Hello Everyone. Well, this was a busy and very tiresome weekend for my family. We took a short trip to Indiana to see my in-laws and in our way back we were in an accident that totaled our car. It was a very close call and tremendously scary. Fortunately we left the scene standing and with only couple scrapes.

We took time to contemplate the event and to rest a bit. I did go play in my craft room a bit and that was a relaxing way to get my mind a bit distracted and not so edgy. Life is a wonderful gift that we all received and we shall celebrate it each and every day. A birthday card seems fit for a life celebration, and the sketch from The Paper Players challenge 246 was all I need to put this card together quickly. The Label Love stamp set as well as the Back to Black DSP is due to retire on June 2nd and I will miss them deeply. As you craft this week, take a moment to cherish the little things of life that are, in the end, the most precious and important. Celebrate Life!

Line? Which line?

I am the kind of stamper that keeps the images from a stamp true to itself. I change colors, use heat embossing, texture embossing, but hardly ever I modify the image by adding anything to it. Today, however the Splitcoast Stampers Challenge TLC 530 made me jump out of my box.

And the best part: I loved it. It was a fun experiment for me and I thought the result was great. So great I made a book mark and a gift card holder with the same images from the Crazy About you stamp set. To give this special effect on the image I simply used my Basic Black marker and add the lines. Nothing to it and lots of fun. I chose to keep the images from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar as is and the sentiment from Label Love gave just the perfect balance for this sketch. I am sad to see the Label Love retiring, but this one is a keeper and I will continue to use it for a long time to come. Grab yours before it is gone forever.

A simple Happy Birthday


 
Hello everyone and let's be happy that another week has ended and here we are with the weekend to enjoy. I use weekends to craft and to relax. Homeschooling my children is a full time job and my time during the week is rather limited and very busy.

I found a bit of time here and there this week, and was able to make few cards, visit with friends and other small things. I prepare today's card for the Freshly Made Sketch challenge 161 and chose a simple birthday card for it. I have a hard time thinking of cards for older children / teenagers, and figure that a simple card is better than trying to match today's trends. This card used the retired Birthday Basics DSP and Label Love stamp set, and honestly I hope that whomever receives this card will feel the same joy I felt as I made it. Cheers!

Hello Thursday!

I appreciate all days of the week, but Thursdays... ah, it is so close to the weekend, that I start to think it is part of the weekend. Sometimes it is my last day of the week, at least as the teacher for my children. This week is the case, as Friday they take science at a nature center and I have the day off. Weekend it is!

Another reason to like Thursdays? Why, it is Dostamper Stars Challenge 106! Enough said. So, I am trying to keep my cards simple, and by that I mean to keep the supplies list short. This one I did not do so well, because I used two stamp sets: Lots of Thanks and Label Love. As for paper, I went with the Back to Black DSP as my main paper. Blendabilities did a wonderful job coloring the few of the leaves and flowers.The ribbon, well the ribbon is my element of choice!

Got a wedding? - A Whole week event!


 

If you do have an upcoming wedding and have no idea where to start for a card, well, fret no more. This week I will work on wedding cards. I will try with challenges, something old, something new, and something blue. To kick off I picked up the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 232.

The combination of both Modern Medley and Quatrefancy Specialty DSP gives texture and visual interest to the card. I love it!

Tips and Tricks:
  • The Very Vanilla piece was stamped and then die cut using the Apothecary Accents framelits. I like how the shape turned out!
  • The Basic Black tail was cut from a scrap piece using the Banner Framelit.

Say Yes! - Label Love



Without realizing, I am making lots of love related card lately. Anniversary card, wedding card and it is not even Valentine's Day. Well, we can never get enough love anyway. For the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 230, I pull out the Label Love stamp set along with the Back to Black DSP and another love theme card was created!


 
The Back to Black DSP set the tune for this card. The trellis pattern makes me think of a outdoors wedding with a flair of formality. Flowering Flourishes could not be left out of this one!

Tips and Tricks:
  • The stamped panel is not embossed. Instead I left the embossed for the label itself, and used the Metallic Silver Encore pad for the panel.
