It was great, thank you!


Indeed, we all had a great time over the weekend celebrating my son's 5th birthday. We had a get together with some close friends on Sunday, made a big Brazilian lunch and we all had a blast.

Then, of course we are very thankful for having friends that have become our family and that alone is reason to cherish and celebrate. I made a card for such occasion and used Mojo Monday challenge 388 as my sketch. The Stippled Blossom stamp set is so pretty and I have not used it in a while so why not? The sentiment is from the Starburst stamp set and framelit. The DSP is retired, but I like digging in my stash to find the perfect paper. Voilá!

Be still.



With all the Stampin' Up! online Extravaganza I need to calm myself down for a bit and control my impulses. Then I went to my craft room and decide to use some old DSP paper and make a calm looking card.

I like the stillness and calming feeling of this card. Perhaps it is the color combination, perhaps the beautiful sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 246; or perhaps both together. The flowers from the Stippled Blossoms are just so beautiful that I have to resist the impulse of using it too much and the simple touch from the Little Pieces Embosslits did not compete with the flowers. I like that!

To you my friend!

We all have that special friend in our lives that have shared moments, secrets, laughter, and cries with us at one point or another. Today, in addition to celebrating those friends, I wish to celebrate those that have being directly affected by the September 11th event. Despite of the many losses, let's all celebrate life!

As we recollect that tragic day, let us not forget of any and all good that came from that. There is always something good to learn from even the most horrible situations. I know friendships and love got stronger, life became that more important, and the little things in life have taken the center stage.

This card is a simple, but a to the point card. The inspiration from it came from Dostamper Stars Challenge 98, and from Try Stampin' on Tuesday challenge 184. I invite you to visit the Memory of 911 Subway art Template to get your free poster. For the Stars banner I used the new Confetti Stars  punch on a 1-1/4" strip of Real Red. That was the perfect size to give me an edge on both top and bottom of the punched image. The Lucky Stars TIEF on Lost Lagoon gives a nice touch. I have used the Stippled Blossoms stamp set many times, but never in blue. And you know what? I love it! The sentiment is from Let Your Hair Down stamp set.

Blooming with Stippled Blossoms


 

I know this is not Monday... well, almost a Monday, but not yet. However late I was not able to resist preparing an entry for the Mojo Monday 355 challenge. One of my favorite stamp sets is the Stippled Blossom. Every time I use it, it is like the first time. Do you like the Stippled Blossom set?


The background  Flower Pot DSP sets the stage for the Stippled Blossom. The richness of colors of the DSP made it easier to select the colors for the card.

Tips and Tricks:
  • The Lost Lagoon layer was cut 1/2" bigger than the DSP layer. This way I was able to cut the scallop and have it showing.
  • For the cut out circles, I first stamped the flower, near the edge of the Very Vanilla card stock then I cut. Once I had it I then proceed to measure and cut the Lost Lagoon circle layer.
  • The Banners were embossed using the Arrows TIEF.
  • The little bow was made using My Bow Maker; it makes a bow in a snap!

SSSC 226 - Stippled Blossoms



Let's make Wednesday into a Sunday and have a entry for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. Perhaps we can even extend that and make it a day off to play! I like that, but since I can hardly change any calendar, I will stick with the challenge only. It has been a while since I last used Stippled Blossoms stamp set, but today I changed that. I love this stamp set. I made this as a Thank you Card using the sentiment from Let Your Hair Down hostess set.


Tips and Tricks:
  • The photo does not do justice to the new Lovely Lace TIEF I used on the background. It is so beautiful. I had the Vanilla adhered to the Strawberry Slush layer prior to embossing it.
  • The rich tone of the Blackberry Bliss is the perfect pop for the flower. I love this new in-color!
  • The flowers and leaves are so easy to be stamped in two-steps when using the Stamp-a-Majig!
