The Serenity of the seas - Serene Silhouettes

This week has gone by too fast. I am still at my daughter violin summer institute and we are having a wonderful time. It is of extreme emotion to see all the children dedicating so much time and effort to play the instrument. I applaud each one of them for their effort.
I am not playing at my craft corner this week, however, I was able to play before I left and made this card for today's Dostamper Stars challenge 092. The beach theme had me and I love the serenity of the colors and just thinking of the sounds of the oceans bring peace to me!



The Serene Silhouettes stamp set could not go wrong with such a serenity theme. I think this card must be dedicated to all the parents that I saw this week at the institute, and to all the faculty members that are so welcoming and helpful in teaching the children and in teaching us the parents to be the best tool our children can possibly have. To all of you parents and teachers out there, this one is for you!


Tips and Tricks:
  • The DSP was cut a 1/8" smaller all around than the Pool Party Layer. I like having just a bit of layer showing as it accentuates the front layer.
  • The Apothecary piece was also embossed to give an extra texture to the card.
  • The bow, of course, was made using my very own Bow Maker.

Let the Stars Talk - Starburst Sayings


 

How nice it is to think that while twinkling the stars may very well be talking to each other?  I like to think so, and since this week I am with my daughter at her violin summer institute, I am inspired by all the music that the children play. It is just as stars talking and singing. I love it. To keep with the stars theme,  I put together a card to enter the Freshly Made Sketch challenge 146 before we got on the road, and what other than the Starburst Sayings stamp set could I use?  And paired with the Typeset Specialty DSP, it turned out a shout to the world!

All children make the world a better place, so I dedicate this card to them all. I hope you too have a little one that bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart!


Tips and Tricks:
  • The DSP was cut a 1/8" smaller all around than the Basic Black Layer. I like having just a bit of layer showing as it accentuates the front layer.
  • I chose not to use two pieces of ribbon as I preferred the effect that the black solid piece gave to the card.

Blooming with Stippled Blossoms


 

I know this is not Monday... well, almost a Monday, but not yet. However late I was not able to resist preparing an entry for the Mojo Monday 355 challenge. One of my favorite stamp sets is the Stippled Blossom. Every time I use it, it is like the first time. Do you like the Stippled Blossom set?


The background  Flower Pot DSP sets the stage for the Stippled Blossom. The richness of colors of the DSP made it easier to select the colors for the card.

Tips and Tricks:
  • The Lost Lagoon layer was cut 1/2" bigger than the DSP layer. This way I was able to cut the scallop and have it showing.
  • For the cut out circles, I first stamped the flower, near the edge of the Very Vanilla card stock then I cut. Once I had it I then proceed to measure and cut the Lost Lagoon circle layer.
  • The Banners were embossed using the Arrows TIEF.
  • The little bow was made using My Bow Maker; it makes a bow in a snap!
