Cake? Yes please.



This weekend was one of my craft fairs and we could not have asked for better weather and crowd. It was beautiful all around. Outdoors events can be tricky and a rainy day or wind day is goof for paper only if you are in a cozy indoors. Thankfully there was no rain or wind.

I had little to no time for crafting over the weekend. Saturday was busy too getting ahead with chores and making sure the house was supplied with fresh food for the week. Now I have time to go back to my craft area and play a bit. A birthday card seems in order and I used The Paper Players' challenge 264 to create this one. The Bohemian dsp was used here in the lower panel and the Rich Razzleberry added a pop to the Delightful Dijon on the paper. The stamp sets are both retired, but I love them both. The Pleasant Poppies has been a favorite and I kept for my use, the Big Day is from 2015 Sale-a-Bration, and the sentiment is from Birthday Sketch. Didn't they go along beautifully? A touch of ribbon and a perfect bow adds the final icing to this cake. Go ahead and have a bite!

Love is in the air.



Since I got my Holidays cards done, and only few days left before Christmas, I had a need to create something different and out of the Holidays theme.

So, I figure, a little love will do. The Retro Sketch Challenge 144 provided me with the layout and my heart led the rest. With all the Holiday cards I did not use much of my Hearts Border Punch, but it came out today to help me with the strips that I wanted for the sketch. The Back to Black DSP gave the perfect background and the Pleasant Poppies.... well, they are pleasant, what else is there to say? Thank you for visiting today, that's all what is left to say!

Clean and simple


 

I am the type of person that have moved so many times in my life, I became minimalist. Well, almost... when it comes to my crafting tools, then it is another story. But I like no clutter and I am not found of items that do not have a practical side.

Today's card is just a minimalist, clean, and simple card. The Pleasant Poppies background stamped on red is so subtle, yet so beautiful. The sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 247 was an easy one to keep my card clean. I changed the shape as I want something a bit more elaborate. The stamp set I used on the Label collection die cut is from the Best of Flowers that was released last year, but no longer available. The sentiment is also from a retired set, but I love the flow of the letter and could not resist. And, of course the perfect little bow that I made using My Bow Maker and you can also have yours!

Oh the backgrounds!



Do you like background stamps? I do like them and how much satisfaction they give me instantaneously. I like how I can make my own DSP by using a single stamp and, even better, stamping it only once! Hard to beat that one.

Today card was a go background card. I used two background stamps: I Love Lace and Pleasant Poppies. The entire card has lots of images, but only took minutes to get it all put together. I add a Bitty Butterfly just because I love butterflies and am already missing them. The washi tape made the stripes that are part of the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 245, which gave me the inspiration for today's card.

Purple calm.

Clean and Simple is the type of card that does me well. However, I am not very good at making a one layer card, so I must work hard to get a clean looking card without going too crazy on the layers.

The answer for this riddle for me is to keep the colors to a minimum, and almost monochromatic. In today's card I decided on the purple hue, using Wisteria Wonder, Perfect Plum, and Elegant Eggplant. The sketch came from the Pals Paper Players challenge 224. The Bordering Blooms had the right pattern that I was looking for and the Pleasant Poppies finished it all up with a perfect elegance.

RS 117 - Pleasant Poppies


Poppies, got love them! Every time I grab the Pleasant Poppies stamp set I ended up admiring that card over and over again. For the Retro Sketch challenge of this week, that's exactly what I did, and I was not disappointed. A beautiful way to greet a brand new week and the 2014-2015 catalog!

Tips and Tricks:
  • When I use a background stamp such as the Pleasant Poppies I stamp the image on sheet from Stamp-a-majig before stamping on the card stock. I can then see which part of the image I want as my final.

DSC 081 & MM 344- Pleasant Poppies

Thursday! A wonderful day for new challenges! This week Dawn Olchefske put together a color challenge for the Dostampers challenge and you know that those intimidate me a bit every time, until I can see them coming together. This week is not an exception. The Mojo Monday had the perfect sketch for the color combo and the Pleasant Poppies stamp set closed the show.  So, did you like it? Please share some love!

Tips & Tricks:
  • The Pleasant Poppies were stamped using the StazOn black ink and the flowers were colored using the aqua painter.
  • The little bow was easily made using my Bow Maker.
  • The rounded corners on the Pleasant Poppies panels were done using Envelope Punch Board.

Pals Paper Art 195 & Freshly Made Sketches 127 - Chalk Talk

I am happy to say that we are finally catching a break on our weather and Spring appears to be just around the corner. We are enjoying beautiful days, now we just need it to warm up. The colourful bright sunny days is a reflection of the Pals Paper Art color combo challenge. I decided to combine that with the simple and elegant Freshly Made Sketches challenge to prepare a Thank you card using the Chalk Talk stamp set and framelit. The Pleasant Poppies stamp was added just to one side of the background layer. I masked the edges of the part I did not want inked, removed the tape and stamped the inked part into the Wild Wasabi background for a subtle effect.
