Lovely as a tree - DSC#059

The beautiful colors of Fall! I love how colorful this season is, I just do not like what comes after that! Nonetheless, I grew up not knowing or seeing trees shedding their leaves, unless the tree was sick and in a dying process. When I first come to this country it was April. I quickly got into a despair mode as all the trees around me were "dead". My husband tried to explain it all to me, but I simply could not believe what he was saying. Soon, I learned he was right. Thankfully!
So, today's challenge, from Dawn Olchefske, allows me to use some of the beautiful colors of fall, as well as the beautiful Lovely as a tree stamp set. The challenge was to capture any, or all, the elements of the photo above and put that into a project - a card, a scrapbook page, a package, etc. I chose to work with the colors, as they were the perfect inspiration to me. I knew that adding a touch of Early espresso  embossing powder would be a perfect way to finish off this card.

I hope you enjoy today's card. I will soon be back for more.

Until then,

Miriam, Stampin' with you.

Owl Builder - Paper Players #169

Hi everyone,

I am excited to entry the Paper Players Challenge #169 challenge. The sketch is  beautiful and versatile. Since I was in need of an anniversary card, this challenge came handy for me to put together this card using the Owl builder punch which is great and has proven to be able to create way more than just an owl! The Happy Day stamp set just gave the perfect touch for this lovely anniversary card along with some hearts and rhinestones. Hope you enjoy it.

A big birthday.

A dear friend of mine asked me if I could make a card for her father-in-law's coming 70th birthday. I was flattered by her request and after asking few questions I got to the drawing board. She wanted a slightly bigger card, with some wet embossing and perhaps some use of framelits. I had some paper that I thought would be perfect for the gentleman and for the occasion. Here is what I came up with:

The numbers were cut using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz die and the circle was cut with the 2 1/2" circle punch.

The Wish big image is a favorite from the Bring on the cake stamp set. The image was embossed using Clear embossing powder. The texture is the Square Lattice textured impressions embossing folder. Couple little candy dot to add a bit of charm to this lovely texture closed the deal....

... partially as the card opened yet one more time. This time a greeting was in order. This one is from the Sassy Salutations stamp set. I then used the Labels collections framelits dies and Early Espresso embossing powder to give just that extra special detail.

Then, to finish it all up, I added the inside border from the Mosaic Madness stamp set.

I must say that working with the new Thinlits dies on this was fantastic. It gave me the chance to think outside the box and make the bigger card she was looking for. I love it how versatile it is and how it makes the cut and scores for me!

My friend liked the final product and I hope you will too! Now, they can all celebrate hos birthday and be all blessed with many more years to come. Happy Birthday!
